Tell us a little about yourself. What do you like to do in your free time? What grade/subject do you teach? Details, details, details!!

I live in Florida and I'm married with a beautiful 3 year old daughter. I have taught 1st grade for 7 1/2 years. I absolutely love teaching 1st grade and witnessing the amazing strides that students take throughout the course of the year. I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I can remember. My parents always laugh & tell me the story of lining my dolls up on the bed when I was younger and teaching them.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, relaxing beach days, shopping, pedicures, and blogging!!

Why did you decide to become a teacher blogger?

I was a blog stalker for a long time, but realized that I have a lot of ideas and creations to contribute to the blogging community. Teacher bloggers have been some of the most supportive and encouraging people that I have encountered. I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful group of people!!

When I visit your blog what will I find? (What do you like to blog about?)

I like to give tips about ideas and technology to use in the classroom. I also like to give away freebies to my followers to thank them for supporting me. I try to make my blog helpful to other bloggers & teachers out there and hope that after they read my posts that they gained something valuable from it.

What inspires you?

Knowing that I make a difference in the lives of young children is the most inspiring to me. I love witnessing the moments that things "click" for students. My students are my inspiration for being a teacher. Their smiles and the way that they look up to me means everything. I love that I wake up in the morning and can't wait to go to work. Not everyone can say that about their career, but I'm happy to say that I can.

What are three professional resources you can't live without?

1. Fountas and Pinnell Leveled Literacy Intervention program- it is amazing for helping your struggling readers!

2. When Readers Struggle- my other "go to" book that I couldn't live without.

3. Debbie Diller's Literacy Work Stations- anything by Debbie Diller is a must read. This is really helpful for setting up centers!

Simply 2nd Resources

Tell us a little about yourself. What do you like to do in your free time? What grade/subject do you teach? Details, details, details!!

I am an early childhood teacher. My first 2 years I taught pre-k, the last 2 years I taught 2nd, and this year I will be in 4th. I love teaching and have always wanted to be a teacher. I teach all subjects, but I love reading with my kids and teaching math.

I have been married to my wonderful husband for 4 1/2 years. We were high school sweethearts. :) We don't have any children yet, but we have 2 dogs and a cat. We just built our house in March and I have loved decorating it this summer.

Why did you decide to become a teacher blogger?

I first got interested in blogs through a 2nd grade ning network. I started following a few and decided that I wanted to join in. I love all things technology, so this is right up my alley. I love the collaboration and the fun of sharing my thoughts and materials. There are so many awesome teachers out there and through our blogs we can connect and learn from each other.

I am an over-achiever and that kinds makes me stand out at my school. That embarasses me so much! In the blogging world, I fit in. I feel more normal.

When I visit your blog what will I find? (What do you like to blog about?)

When you visit my blog you will find tons of freebies. I don't sell any of my materials. I think that we all need to share with each other. You will find lots of ideas from Whole Brain Teaching because that is what I am all about right now. I like to link to other blogs or websites when I find great materials.

What inspires you?

Pinterest, other blogs, the CAFE book, the Book Whisperer, Rafe Esquith, my students on a daily basis

What are three professional resources you can't live without?

The CAFE book, the Book Whisperer, There Are No Shortcuts, our online curriculum, oops that is more than three!

What else would you like to tell us?

I love to read. My favorite books are the Hunger Games, Twilight, Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, books by Nora Roberts and other romance writers.

I am a follower of Christ, my Lord and Savior. My husband is the youth minister at our church.
